Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) are two of our newest treatments.

PRP involves drawing a small amount of your blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate your blood platelets from your white and red blood cells. These platelets form a gel-like substance, sometimes called "liquid gold", that is then applied over the facial skin to generate stem cell growth. At DermBar, we apply PRP post-microneedling, when the skin is most receptive to a topical treatment.

PRFM has been referred to as "Next Generation PRP". Like PRP, PRFM stimulates cell growth. A fibrin matrix gel is added to the platelets to form a support structure for them to cling to while they create stem cells over the following few days. Next, the PRFM is injected into specific treatment sites like the crows' feet area, parenthesis lines, and under the eyes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does each procedure take?

PRP takes about 30 minutes, while PRFM will take about 45 minutes per treatment. Keep in mind that a PRP treatment usually follows a microneedling session at DermBar, and therefore will add 30 minutes to your total appointment.

Are there side effects or common allergies?

As with many injectables, patients may experience some skin irritation and bruising. However, the treatment has virtually no risk of creating an allergic reaction because your own blood platelets are being reintroduced.

Why choose DermBar for PRP or PRFM?

We use the Selphyl® System, a system that utilizes a proprietary gel separator to create a barrier between platelets and white and red blood cells, ensuring a purer platelet topical or injectable.
